TAKE A PEEK

BOOK 3

Take a peek . . . . . . . . . . . Book 3

Come!  Let’s go to Children’s Church and see what great things God is doing to stir young imaginations.

We find the children examining an Oreo Double Stuff cookie and looking at it in a different way.  What is in the middle of your Oreo?  Singing can be heard as the children strum their guitars with an ample amount of gratitude after hearing the story of the ten lepers - only one came back to say, “Thank You.”  Mr. Naaman is having a rough go of it because he does not want to follow God’s instructions.  We see the pin being poked into a balloon that isn’t popping!  Will Mr. Naaman experience a full recovery?  A very hot skit is in progress as you can see by the fiery furnace on the cover.  We learn that the Lord will always be with us even in the hottest situations.  We hear the children praying that God will help them become a two-miler because each one of them is a precious child of the King.

Here is an example of a Lesson from Book 3.

LESSON:  Angels, Angels, Angels

Item:  An angel  (doll, ceramic figure or one from your Christmas tree)

Scripture:  Matthew 26:53  (LB)  “Don’t you realize that I could ask my Father for thousands of angels to protect us, and he would send them instantly?”

Have you ever thought about angels and what they are all about?  This is what we believe they look like.  (Show the children your angel.)  Have you ever laid on your back in the snow or in the sand at the beach?  If you moved your arms up and down and your legs back and forth, you will make an outline of an angel.  Try it sometime.  It’s fun!

Angels are mentioned many times in the Bible.  Angels are messengers of God.  Do you remember the Christmas story? An angel named Gabriel came from heaven to tell Mary that she was going to have a baby.  The angel even told Mary to name her baby Jesus.  In the Easter story an angel rolled the big stone away from the cave where Jesus was buried.

There are many places in the Bible where God tells us about things angels do in heaven and here on earth.  Angels are physically stronger and smarter than we are and they can move much faster than we can.

Even though you and I cannot see angels, just as we cannot see God, they are with us, watching over and protecting us wherever we go.  How do we know this?  Because God tells us so!  (Speak softly.)  Let’s talk to God as the angels listen.

(Have the children repeat the prayer after you.)

PrayerFather God, thank You for the angels that surround us with Your love and protection.  Amen.

LESSON:  Angels, Angels, Angels

            Glue

            Glitter (gold)

            Scissors

            Cotton balls

Circle time:  I want you to tell me what you have learned about angels today.  (Let the children respond.)  Even though we cannot see angels, we know they watch over all of God’s children.  Let us talk to God.

(Have the children repeat the prayer after you.)

Prayer:  Dear God, we thank You for loving us.  May our love for You be as bright and glowing as the angels.  In Jesus’ name, we pray.  Amen.

Teach the children the song, All of the Angels Came Down.  Add hand motions as you sing.

Note: Send note home with children.
